The government has instructed Private Security Companies not to participate in criminal events after it was reported repeatedly that the security guards of these companies were found guilty of crimes in their workplaces, including borrowing weapons from criminals to carry out criminal events. This was said by the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Engineer Hamad Masauni while opening the General Meeting of the Tanzania Defense Industry Association (TSIA), held today in Dodoma.

He said that companies need to talk to their security guards same time as increasing the interest of those security guards so that they do not fall into temptations that will lead to them not participating in criminal incidents at their workplaces.

“Some of the security guards of the companies you manage have become involved in crime, and others have gone further by borrowing weapons from criminals to commit crimes, this is unacceptable, and now I am instructing the companies with security guards like this to ensure that these acts stop immediately,”

said Masauni Speaking on behalf of the Police Force, the Senior Assistant Commissioner, Narcis Misama said that they, as the force, are assuring the members of the defense sector of the cooperation that will help them fulfill their duties while making it clear that the force cannot reach all areas on time

“I thank you very much because you have become an important help to the police force especially when crimes occur in the areas you protect, we have been able to find the suspects of various incidents through your information as soon as the crime occurs, I promise you cooperation in the future more than you get from the army,”

said SACP Misama Speaking on behalf of the members, the Chairman of the Tanzania Defense Industry Association, Felix Kagisa asked the government to adopt sharia governing the private defense industry so that they can do their jobs in accordance with the laws and procedures of the country.
